General Dynamics' SATCOM Technologies has been honored by The World Teleport Association (WTA) by having its ModuMAX Solid State High Power Amplifier named a finalist in the WTA's annual Awards for Excellence.

ModuMAX is the industry's leading completely modular, solid-state power amplifier system for world-wide satellite communications.

The WTA will present its annual awards as part of its 18th Annual Teleport Awards for Excellence Ceremony and Luncheon during Satellite 2013 March 19-21 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, D.C.

ModuMAX was nominated in the category of Teleport Technology of the Year by WTA members for its forward thinking design, including multiple parallel RF modules, power supplies and cooling fans, General Dynamics ModuMAX SSPAs are extremely reliable and fault-tolerant. With the ModuMAX series, one fault-tolerant SSPA can replace two conventionally designed high power amplifiers yielding significant installation savings and reduced operating costs.

A ModuMAX SSPA combines the RF output power from eight identical, fully interchangeable RF plug-in modules (16 in a phase-combined system) to obtain the rated power capacity. These amplifier modules can be individually turned on or off via either local or remote control. Installations can exploit this feature of the ModuMAX SSPA to reduce prime power consumption during times when the required RF output power is lower than the maximum linear power capacity of the amplifier.

Information on the ModuMAX solid-state power amplifier is featured in SATCOM Technologies' Satellite 2013 Booth #4030. Click here to download data sheets on the C, Ku and X-Band ModuMAX solid-state power amplifiers.

Established in 1985, the World Teleport Association ( focuses on improving the business of satellite communications from the ground up. At the core of its membership are the world's most innovate operators of teleports, from independents to multinationals, niche service providers to global carriers.
