Lightweight 2.4-Meter Mobile Antenna Used to Cover His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Birthday Celebrations
Three 2.4-Meter mobile antennas (C240M) produced by General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies have recently been installed on Satellite News Gathering (SNG) vehicles used by Thailand's Television Channel 3.
The new Satellite News Gathering Vehicles contract was awarded to Planet Communications Asia Public Co., Ltd which designed and constructed the vehicles in Thailand. PlanetComm is a regional based Systems Integrator and a long-standing partner of SATCOM Technologies.
The C240M antenna is designed for worldwide transmit and receive operation in C, Extended C, X, and Ku band. The mobile antenna consists of a carbon fiber composite reflector (available in either a single or three-piece unit), and back beam mounted on a cable-driven, elevation-over azimuth positioning system. The configuration produces an antenna with superior stiffness and high performance under wind loading conditions.
Thailand's Channel 3 used the C240M to broadcast live feeds of the national celebrations of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 88th birthday earlier this month.
Kim Scott, Business Area Manager for SATCOM Technologies Tactical Terminals, said, "The C240M mobile antenna can be attached to most lightweight vehicles for fast and efficient mobile satellite newsgathering (SNG) applications. The unique shape and the accurate reflector surface provide exceptionally low side lobe and cross-polarization performance well within INTELSAT and EUTELSAT requirements."
General Dynamics' C240M antenna is offered as a Ready-to-Go (RTG) product. The Company's RTG program offers customers select SATCOM standard products with guaranteed 'On-the-Shelf' shipping within 30-days of an accepted order.
