General Dynamics' SATCOM Technologies has announced its new, more capable, Model 950A antenna control systems will replace its Model 7200 and Model 100 Antenna Control units.

The Model 950A can be used with almost any limited motion antenna for precision satellite tracking applications. The units are Intelsat-Standard A Compliant for superior tracking performance, offer extensive modes for pointing, acquisition and tracking, and its software is field-upgradable via a simple USB interface.

In addition, standard Model 950A antenna control units are designated SATCOM Technologies; 'RTG' (Ready-to-Go) products. RTG products have guaranteed "On-the-Shelf" shipping within 30-days after order acceptance.

An official End of Sale (EOS) notice on the Model 7200 Antenna Control Unit, effective December 31, 2017, has been issued by SATCOM Technologies' Business Manager for Antenna Controls Products, Dan Fredrickson.

"The end of sale notice for the Model 7200 Antenna Control units does not impact SATCOM's commitment to support the 7200 product line in customer service, spare units, spare parts and repairs," Fredrickson said. "These support activities will continue for several years."

"The Model 7200 ACU has performed well over many years of service," Fredrickson added, "but the Model 950A system is a superior product offering a number of advanced features including an Antenna Control Unit (ACU), Tracking Receiver Unit (TRU) and a Power Drive Unit (PDU) which are linked via dedicated Ethernet connections. This configuration provides flexibility in locating key system components, simplified cable installation and immunity to electrical ground plane transients even for geographically separated equipment."

The Model 950A is CE compliant for EU applications and features a touch-screen, large angle color display for ease-of-use and instant access to system performance. Options include fiber interfaces for lightning protection with lengthy cable runs and a drive cabinet receiver for lower cost, easier cabling and no loss in system performance. The Model 950A Controller comes with a three-year warranty, standard.
